Prices hike up because middlemen such as distributors and suppliers have to profit from the product as well. So the closer you are to the factory, the cheaper wholesale clothes you can get.

However, going directly to manufacturers can sometimes become impossible especially with branded wholesale clothes. Most of these large companies already have contacts with distributors. So the best thing wholesalers can do is to find the perfect middleman. How to? Make sure that they are licensed distributors and suppliers. Identify the company background by doing your research and asking for fellow wholesalers who get their items from the same company. You need further attention on this if you want to deal with online distributors. Always do your research and make sure that the website has a good track record, not to mention, net-reputation.

You should also avoid factory outlet malls who claim that they are selling designer brands on wholesale prices. Remember that these outlets are still paying capital for merchandising. And aside from the cost of space rents, labor, and others that sum up to the total overhead, they still have to profit from all these efforts.

Again, you have to make professional coordination with your suppliers to make reasonable agreements especially when it comes to shipping. Consider the terms of payment, and the shipping insurance. You might probably need to do your homework when dealing with this. Best tip of all: choose a distributor close to where you are to cut on shipping expenses.

Same attention is needed in warehousing. Wholesale clothes are delicate products. Consumers would not want to buy damaged clothing even if it they are less expensive.

Which brings us towards the importance of quality over quantity. Always prefer the former. You have to make a good impression towards your retailers and direct customers. One mistake can easily damage your reputation. Although the profit is undeniably high if you can buy more for less, the quality of your products still have to be your emphasis. Because for a business to work out, you can’t just operate with profit as your driving force – you have to love what you are doing and love it because you are satisfying other people’s needs.
